Creating Parts lists in Inventor is often a time-consuming job. Fortunately, the Publish Tool has a function to export BOM lists to Excel. For this we use a template that can be completely customized to your own taste. You can create as many templates as you want.
A number of templates are included with the Publish Tool. You can find these in:
‘C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\
Matprop Publish Tool\Contents\net48\Sample Files’
or for Inventor 2025 and higher:
‘C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\

It is important to choose the correct type in the first column. Choose ‘Cell’ to link a specific iProperty to a cell. You can simply enter Cusom iProperties with the name and they will be automatically recognized.
Open an assembly and start the Publish Tool. The Excel templates appear automatically:
Tools –> Parts Lists Excel.
Click on the desired template and wait until the BOM list is ready!
